Incentives can change the cost of a solar system significantly, but they also open and close without much notice. Here’s where things stood when we last checked in October 2026.
Efficiency Manitoba solar rebate, residential
Efficiency Manitoba offers homeowners a rebate of $0.50 per DC watt installed, up to $5,000, which corresponds to a 10 kW system. The system must be installed by a registered contractor.
Efficiency Manitoba solar rebate, commercial
For businesses, the commercial rebate was reported at $0.75 per DC watt from May 2025. Projects need pre-approval from Efficiency Manitoba before installation, so this step comes early in the process.
Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit
This federal refundable tax credit applies to eligible clean technology investments by businesses. It is not available to homeowners, which is a common source of confusion in solar advertising.
Programs that have closed
The federal Canada Greener Homes grant and loan are closed to new applicants. If a quote still counts them, ask why.
Financing
Financing options for energy upgrades change too. Ask us what’s available when we quote, and we’ll point you to the current program rather than one that has ended.
How we handle incentives in a quote
Your quote shows the price before and after any incentive that’s open to you on the day, and nothing else. One customer chose us over a cheaper quote for exactly this reason: the other installer had counted a grant that had closed. Read about that project.
