Solar for Manitoba homes, farms and acreages.

Roof or ground mount, grid-tied, with batteries if you want backup. Sized from your actual Hydro bills, quoted all-in, and installed by the electrician who designed it.

What a home system does for you

The honest version: real benefits, and a longer payback than in provinces with expensive power.

Lower Hydro bills

Power you make and use at home is power you don’t buy. Savings depend on how much you use during the day.

Backup, if you want it

Add batteries to keep essential circuits running when the grid goes down.

A fixed share of your energy

Once installed, the panels’ output isn’t tied to future rate changes.

Value you can see

Monitoring on your phone shows production and use in real time.

Help with incentives

We handle the Efficiency Manitoba rebate paperwork when it applies to you.

Long-lived equipment

Panels and inverters carry manufacturers’ warranties; our labour carries three years.

Estimate your solar installation

Use your own power first. Bank the rest with Hydro.

Panels on your roof or in your yard feed an inverter that turns their output into household power. Your home uses that power first. When you make more than you need, the surplus goes to Manitoba Hydro through a bidirectional meter, and you’re credited for it.

Hydro credits exported power at a lower rate than it charges, so the best-value systems are sized to cover what you use, not to export as much as possible. That’s why we start with 12 months of your bills. More on net billing.

System design

Panel layout, shade analysis, inverter selection and electrical design, sized to your usage and your roof or yard.

Mounting

Roof mount on shingle or metal roofs, or ground mount on steel racking for acreages and farms.

Backup option

Add batteries now or later. See battery storage.

Warranty

3 years on our labour, plus manufacturers’ warranties on equipment, which we register for you.

What to expect as a homeowner

From first call to a working system.

  1. A straight conversationWe’ll ask what you want from solar and tell you whether your property suits it, including when it doesn’t.
  2. A look at your bills and siteTwelve months of Hydro bills, your roof or ground space, shading, and the capacity of your main panel.
  3. One all-in priceEquipment, installation, permits, inspection, Hydro paperwork, monitoring and taxes. Only open incentives are counted.
  4. Paperwork handledElectrical permits and Manitoba Hydro’s interconnection process are part of the job.
  5. Install dayInstalled and wired by our crew. Roof mounts usually involve no work inside beyond the panel and meter connections.
  6. Hand-overWe set up monitoring on your phone and walk you through the system before we leave.

Farms and acreages

Rural properties often have the space for a ground mount set at the ideal angle, and loads in shops and outbuildings that run during the day, when solar produces most.

We’ve worked through Manitoba Hydro and municipal requirements on rural sites, including the ones that don’t fit the usual mould. See a rural project.

“We made the decision to get solar installed and Adam truly went above and beyond for us! Even with all the obstacles we had to get this install completed he was professional, patient and is always there to answer any of our questions. We highly recommend this company!”

Installation process

  1. Consultation

A conversation about what you want: lower bills, backup power, independence, or power where there’s no line.

  2. Site and energy assessment

We look at 12 months of Hydro bills or your loads, your roof or ground space, shading and your main panel.

  3. Design and all-in quote

A system sized to your use, with storage if it earns its place. One price, taxes and monitoring included.

  4. Install and connection

Installed and wired by our crew, inspected, and connected through Manitoba Hydro’s process. We handle the paperwork.

  5. Monitoring and support

Production you can check from anywhere, maintenance when you need it, and a 3-year warranty on our labour.

Common questions

If yours isn’t here, see all questions or call.

Call 1-204-404-1590
Is solar worth it with Manitoba Hydro’s low rates?

It depends on the property, and we’ll tell you honestly. Manitoba’s electricity is cheap, and Hydro credits power you send back at a lower rate than it charges you, so payback takes longer here than in most provinces.

Solar tends to make the most sense when you use power during the day, want backup during outages, are off-grid or far from a line, or want to fix part of your energy costs for the long term. We’ll show you the numbers for your site, including when they don’t work.

Does solar work through a Manitoba winter?

Yes. Panels produce well in cold, clear weather, and a steeper tilt helps snow slide off. Output is lowest in December and January because the days are short, and highest from spring to early fall. We design for production over the full year rather than a winter peak.

How big a system do I need?

We start from 12 months of Hydro bills (or your planned loads if you’re off-grid), then look at roof or ground space, shading and your goals. Power you export earns less than power you use, so we size to how you use energy rather than to the largest possible array.

Which rebates and loans are open right now?

As of October 2026, Efficiency Manitoba offers a residential solar rebate of $0.50 per DC watt up to $5,000, and a commercial rebate for pre-approved projects. The federal Greener Homes grant and loan are closed to new applicants. Programs change, so your quote lists only what’s open on the day.

Roof mount or ground mount?

Roof mounts cost less, use no yard space and avoid ground disturbance. Ground mounts can be set at the best angle, shed snow more easily, avoid roof penetrations and are easier to reach for cleaning. On acreages and farms a ground mount is often the better choice.

Can I add batteries to a system I already have?

Often, yes. It depends on your inverter and how the system was wired. We’ll look at what you have and tell you whether it’s a straightforward addition or needs a hybrid inverter.
